Agent Installation Steps

Step 1: Install RDF Gateway

If you have RDF Gateway installed on your computer then you can skip this step.

For new users, Intellidimension provides RDF Gateway Personal Edition free for non-commercial use and/or product evaluation (refer to the license agreement for details). The Personal Edition will run any semantic web agent that is written for RDF Gateway, which includes all of the agents available on this site. You just need to download RDF Gateway Personal Edition from www.intellidimension.com and install it on your computer.

Step 2: Install the Agent

RDF Gateway has a built-in application installer that is accessed from main menu of the RDF Gateway Manager (see sidebar) by selecting Applications > Add/Remove.... This will open a window displaying all of the packages currently installed on RDF Gateway. Click on the Add... button to launch the install wizard.

The install wizard will first prompt you to enter a name for the new application. You can choose any name as long as it is unique and does not contain any restricted characters. Once you have entered a name click on the Next button.

The install wizard will now prompt you for the URL of the RDF Gateway Application File. This is location of the compressed file that contains all of the various files that are needed by RDF Gateway to run the agent. If you are installing a sample agent from this site the URL is displayed right after the agent description (see Sample Agents) and it can be copied and pasted right into the text box in the install wizard. Once you have entered the URL, click on the Finish button to begin the installation.

Step 3: Browse the Agent

You can open the user interface for one of your agents by selecting Applications > Run... from the main menu of the RDF Gateway Manager (see sidebar). A window is displayed that allows you to either type the name of the agent's RDF Gateway application package or just select it from the drop down list. Clicking on the OK button will open the home page for the agent in your default web browser allowing you to interact with your agent.
